IND vs AUS: Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav Likely To Play Together vs Australia - Reports

India National Cricket Team are likely to field the spin trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav in their ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 opening clash, according to a report in Cricbuzz.

The Men In Blue will lock horns with the Australia National Cricket Team on Sunday, October 8, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai. With the track being spin-friendly, the team management is likely to go with three spinners in the match.

The three spinners in India’s squad are left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, left-arm finger-spinner Ravindra Jadeja and right-arm off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Earlier, Axar Patel was part of the line-up, but he was ruled out of the marquee tournament due to an injury.

Alongside, Kuldeep, Jadeja, and Ashwin, India are likely to field Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj as two pacers with all-rounder Hardik Pandya playing the role of third seamer.

Shubman Gill Could Miss 2 World Cup Matches

According to the same report, Shubman Gill could miss the first two matches of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 after being diagnosed with dengue fever. Gill underwent tests after displaying symptoms of dengue fever and on Thursday, it was confirmed that he indeed had dengue.

The team sources have informed that Shubman Gill is not experiencing extreme weakness, but he will not be fit in time for the Australia clash and might also miss the match against Afghanistan in New Delhi on October 11.

“He’s not feeling well, and the medical team is closely monitoring him. We are hopeful for his speedy recovery,” a team official told Cricbuzz.

In the absence of Gill, Ishan Kishan will reportedly open with captain Rohit Sharma. However, the absence of the 24-year-old will be a major blow for the side as he has been the top performer for the team in 2023 and was in red-hot form in the recent three-match ODI series against Australia.
