Virat Kohli is currently starting to get back into the Test match mold ahead of India's three-match Test series against New Zealand. Kohli will be key to India's chances in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will be played later this year in Australia.
Having retired from the T20I format after the completion of the T20 World Cup 2024, Kohli is not a part of India's current T20I squad against Bangladesh. As a result, he was in rest mode for some days before the grind of red-ball cricket began again.
Recently, Virat Kohli was seen outside the airport where he posed for a few photos in front of the fans and reporters. During his conversation, a random fan requested him by saying, "Virat bhai BGT mai aag lagani hai (Virat, you have to fire at BGT)."
Kohli hilariously responded by saying, "Kiske saath (With whom)?" His reply has gone viral on social media, drawing plenty of attention from the users on X (formerly Twitter).

Virat Kohli will be playing in the upcoming Test series against New Zealand which will be India's second successive home Test series in a few days. The three Tests of the series will be played in Bengaluru, Pune, and Mumbai respectively.
Important series against New Zealand
The series will be extremely important for both teams given it is a part of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. While India are coming on the back of a comprehensive 2-0 Test series win over Bangladesh, New Zealand have not been at their best recently after having lost the Test series in Sri Lanka 0-2.
If India wins all three Tests, they can confirm their spot in the WTC final regardless of the other results. The WTC final of the ongoing cycle will be played in June next year.
Currently, India and Australia are the top two teams in the WTC points table and both these teams are the favorites this time as well. These two teams were the finalists in the last cycle as well in which Australia defeated India to emerge victorious.
Virat Kohli's numbers in Australia
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli's recent form has not been great with the bat. The talismanic batter recorded 99 runs in two Tests at an average of 33.
He did not score a fifty in any of the four innings he played during the series. However, he showed glimpses of his return to form by the end of the series.
Kohli will be crucial to India's chances in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will be played later this year.
The 35-year-old has a fantastic record in Australia, having scored 1352 runs in 13 Tests at an average of 54.08. His record against Australia makes him a key player for India in the five-match Test series.
