Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma is an emotionless player as far as explosive batting is concerned on the field, but off the field, he is equally lively.

Behind the scenes, the Hitman is far from that formal; instead, he is an unfiltered guy and has no problem showing his real self.

The Indian captain’s candid nature is crystal clear, whether the cameras are rolling or not, and that perhaps makes him the most respectable and approachable figure in the national team.

What sets Rohit apart is the camaraderie he shares with the youngsters in the team.

Recently, young Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel revealed that Rohit doesn't believe in sitting with the senior stalwarts, talking tactical cricket over dinner.

Instead, the Indian skipper prefers to dine with young players such as Jurel, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, and Shubman Gill. He also called Rohit completely an unfiltered player in the team.

Jurel further revealed that Rohit does not talk about the game or the fine-tuning of strategies over the dinner.

He instead talks more about life beyond cricket, with laughter flowing candidly during his time with the youngsters, according to Jurel.

But once the game begins, Rohit means business. Jurel said that the Indian skipper’s relaxed nature off the field disappears the moment the Indian team steps onto the pitch.

His message is clear: when playing for India, there’s no room for anything less than an absolute commitment.

He said that Rohit Sharma always told the young players that donning the Indian jersey comes with humongous responsibility, and this opportunity doesn’t get every Indian, so give 100 percent on the field. Jurel also hailed the Indian captain for being a source of motivation for the young players in the team.

Dhurv Jurel said in a viral video on X, “Yes, 100 percent. You are right, Rohit Sharma is completely an unfiltered guy. When we have dinner at night, he doesn't sit with the seniors. He calls me Jaiswal, Sarfaraz, Gill, and others. He doesn't talk about cricket. He talks about other things. It's a lot of fun.

He just wants that when you are on the ground, you are playing for India, then you can't relax. You have to give 100 percent. Because everyone is watching you. Not everyone in India can play. He motivates us a lot.”

Notably, the 23-year-old Jurel impressed one and all with his performance with both bat and gloves in his debut Test series against England in January 2024.

In three Tests, India’s rising star amassed 190 runs, with a brilliant 90 being his highest score to make his presence felt.

Impressed by his form, the Indian selection committee has named Jurel into the squad for the upcoming first Test against Bangladesh.

With the likes of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul already in the squad, Jurel will be just the third wicketkeeper for the upcoming Bangladesh series at home.
