India and Bangladesh will face off in a World Cup match at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19. Virat Kohli holds an impressive record against Bangladesh in the 50-ver format. He averages over 67 with four centuries and three half-centuries in 15 games.
Virat Kohli On Verge Of Sachin Tendulkar’s World Record
Virat Kohli is just 77 runs away from becoming the fastest player to achieve the milestone of 26,000 runs in international cricket. The right-handed batter has scored 25,923 runs in 566 innings at an impressive average of 53.78, including 77 centuries and 134 half-centuries.
Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, and Ricky Ponting are the only three batters in the elite 26,000-run club. Tendulkar leads the pack with 34,357 runs in 664 games, followed by Sangakkara and Ponting. Virat Kohli is the fifth-highest run scorer in international cricket.

In a conversation with Star Sports, Virat Kohli acknowledged the challenge of facing skilled bowlers like Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan. Kohli, who has encountered difficulties against left-arm spin, emphasized the need to avoid pressure and potential dismissals.
“Over the years, I’ve played a lot against him. He’s got amazing control. He’s a very experienced bowler. He bowls very well with the new ball, knows how to deceive the batsman, and is also very economical,” Kohli told Star Sports.
“You have to play your best against all these bowlers, and if you aren’t able to, these bowlers are able to create pressure and increase the chances of getting you out,” he further added.
The 34-year-old has scored 156 runs in three games in the ongoing mega tournament. He scored 85 runs and an unbeaten 55 runs against Australia and Afghanistan, respectively.
