IND vs ENG: Harbhajan Singh Urges Indian Team Management To Pick Ravichandran Ashwin In Place Of Mohammed Siraj

Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh suggested the Indian team management to field three spinners in their next match in the ICC World Cup 2023. Harbhajan Singh urged the team management to bring in off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in place of Mohammed Siraj.

The Rohit Sharma-led team will take on the Jos Buttler-led side in their next match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, October 29. The Men in Blue have secured five victories, while England have managed to win only one out of four games in the event.

Kuldeep Yadav’s Form Has Been Good – Harbhajan Singh

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan Singh highlighted that England batters struggle against spin bowlers on slow pitches. Harbhajan suggested that fielding three spinners could be an advantageous strategy for India in their next game.

“Kuldeep Yadav’s form has been good, but I wonder if we will get to see three spinners play in the next game – Kuldeep, [Ravindra] Jadeja and Ashwin. It could be a possibility since England do not play spin well. As it is, England are not playing well in the World Cup, and if the ball starts spinning, I don’t think they will be able to do much better. Playing three spinners might not be a bad option,” Harbhajan said.

Mohammed Siraj Can Be Rested – Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh went on to say that Mohammed Siraj, who played five consecutive matches, could be given a rest. Singh also mentioned that Mohammed Shami took five wickets during his first match in the World Cup 2023.

“Siraj can be rested. He has played back-to-back games. Shami has just come into the playing XI and has claimed a five-fer.”

“If a pitch is a normal one and is not expected to offer a lot of turn, then I do not see too many changes in the team. The team that played against New Zealand might be retained. However, India is playing England, so they might want a slow pitch,” he elaborated.
