And the latest to join the long list of Pakistan cricketers who have caused controversy with their statements is former bowler Rana Naved-ul-Hasan. Ahead of the highly-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan in this year’s ICC ODI World Cup, the former cricketer has come up with a comment that is bound to raise a number of eyebrows.

The much-awaited clash between the two arch-rivals is scheduled to take place on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It will be the first meeting between the two countries on Indian soil since the match between them in Kolkata during the 2016 T20 World Cup.

As far as the World Cup is concerned, it will begin on October 5 with a mouthwatering clash between defending champions England and New Zealand.

Rana Naved-ul-Hasan’s controversial comment ahead of the India-Pakistan clash:

Ahead of the match between IND vs PAK, Naved-ul-Hasan has sensationally claimed that ‘Indian Muslims will support the Men in Green’ in the mega clash. The former pacer was asked about the India-Pakistan clash on the Nadir Ali Podcast. In reply, he said that while India will be the favorite, Pakistan will get good support from Indian Muslims.

“India is the favourite if there is any match in India. Muslims of India support Pakistan instead of India when Pakistan’s match takes place in India,” said Naved-ul-Hasan.

Ahead of the World Cup clash, India and Pakistan are also set to play against each other in the Asia Cup 2023. Both the teams are clubbed together in Group A with Nepal. India and Pakistan can play as many as three matches against each other if they advance to the Super 4 and the final. A total of six teams are participating in the Asia Cup this year.
