The United States of America (USA) cricket team pulled off a stunning victory against the Pakistan cricket team in the 11th match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Cricket analysts and former international cricketers, including Tom Moody, shared their views on Pakistan's loss in the ICC T20 tournament.
The Pakistan team lost to the USA team in a thrilling Super Over at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Thursday, June 6. The home team pulled off the first upset in the ongoing 20-team tournament. The Men in Green failed to defend a total of 159 runs in their first match of the prestigious tournament.
The Monank Patel-led team moved to the top place in the Group A points table. The USA has four points and a net run rate (NRR) of 0.626 after two wins in two matches. The Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, is in second place with one win. The Babar Azam-led team is in third place without an NRR.

Tom Moody stated that Pakistan are an immensely talented team but added that the team's lack of unity leads to panic and blame-shifting, as evidenced by their performance today.
"Pakistan are an immensely talented team but when all forces are pulling in different directions you end up with sheer panic and finger-pointing. Today, case in point," Tom Moody wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The USA skipper won the toss and opted to bowl first. Pakistan lost the wicket of Mohammad Rizwan in the second over as Steven Taylor took a brilliant catch at first slip off Saurabh Netravalkar. Usman Khan (3) and Fakhar Zaman (11) were dismissed for low scores, leaving Pakistan in a challenging situation at 26/3.
Skipper Babar Azam struggled to score quickly and managed to score just 14 runs off his first 25 balls. Babar added 72 runs off 48 balls with Shadab Khan for the fourth wicket. Shadab scored 40 runs off 25 balls, including one boundary and three sixes before being dismissed by left-arm spinner Nosthush Kenjige.
Azam Khan was dismissed for a golden duck in a recent match. Babar finished with 44 runs off 43 balls, including three boundaries and two sixes. Iftikhar Ahmed scored 18 runs off 14 balls, and Shaheen Afridi played a cameo of unbeaten 23 runs off 16 balls to take the team close to 160 runs in the first innings.
In this chase, United States captain Monank Patel scored a half-century, while Andries Gous (35) and Aaron Jones (36) made crucial contributions. Nitish Kumar scored a boundary off the final ball when five runs were needed. Saurabh Netravalkar restricted Pakistan to 14 runs while defending 18 runs in the Super Over.
