Former India batsman, Sunil Gavaskar spoke on Virat Kohli’s hunger for winning the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 and said that the player will be motivated to be a part of another World Cup-winning team.

Virat Kohli is considered one of the greatest cricketers of all time for his aggression to win a trophy. Just like that, Indian cricket fans will be hopelessly waiting for Virat Kohli to perform in the forthcoming extravaganza tournament and end India’s 10-year-long drought of not winning an ICC trophy.

Less than 30 days left before the start of the most prestigious trophy, and on Tuesday (September 5th) Ajit Agarkar, the chief of the India team selection committee, and Rohit Sharma attended a press conference where they revealed the Men in Blues squad for the ODI World Cu 2023.

India’s ODI World Cup 2023 squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya (Vice-captain), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav.

The team is currently in Sri Lanka to take part in the Asia Cup 2023 and will play against Pakistan once again on Sunday (September 10th) at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The last time the Men in Blues faced Pakistan, the match was cancelled without any result after rain spoiled the game. However, Virat Kohli failed to make a mark in that match in the first inning after being dismissed by Shaheen Afridi for just four runs.

I don’t think of an Indian player who have been a part of two World Cup winning team: Sunil Gavaskar on Virat Kohli.

While speaking to India Today, Sunil Gavaskar said that Virat Kohli will be motivated to win another ODI World Cup and can become the only Indian player to be a part of two World Cup-winning teams.

“Added motivation, yes. Kohli of course has been a part of the winning team in 2011 and exactly wants to be a part of another winning team. I don’t think of an Indian player who has been a part of two World Cup-winning teams.

“I am talking about 50-over World Cup winning. So, that is a great motivation for him. Not that he needs any motivation when he pulls on the India cap he (Virat Kohli), Rohit, and all of them go out and try their best,” Sunil Gavaskar said.

In the ODI World Cup 2023, Rohit Sharma-led India will play against Babar Azam’s Pakistan on October 14th at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
