As the Indian cricket team is gearing up for their crucial ICC T20 World Cup 2024 encounter against the USA, Navjot Singh Sidhu, known for his colorful commentary, came up with his insights on India's playing XI strategy for the Group A match on Wednesday, June 12.

With Team India riding high on their winning streak, having won back-to-back matches against Ireland and Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, Sidhu, the former Indian cricketer, stressed the importance of maintaining the winning rhythm without unnecessary experimentation.

Sidhu, drawing analogies from archery, highlighted the significance of not burdening with unnecessary loads when everything is functioning smoothly to convey his suggestion to Team India.

The commentator stressed that the Men in Blue must stick to their well-established and winning combination against the USA, suggesting that when something works well, there's no need to tinker with it.

Navjot Singh Sidhu said on Star Sports: “There is no need for any experimentation when you have the winning habit and rhythm. If it ain't broke, don't mend it. Many times an arrow is flying and you take it on your back. There is no need for that because you have a combination.”

In his trademark poetic style, Sidhu described the team combination as a puzzle, where each player fits into different blocks to form a solid unit. Well, the former politician also acknowledged the versatility of the Indian squad, but he hinted at the possibility of bringing in Kuldeep Yadav if they want to try out a different bowling approach against the USA in New York.

The commentator added, “The biggest jigsaw is to fit the combination. Team combination is different, different blocks and you have fit those blocks. You have that combination. Yes, you can do one thing, if you don't want batting from your two spinners against USA, you can bring in Kuldeep Yadav.”

Sidhu mentioned that Kuldeep can come in place of Axar Patel if the Indian team doesn’t want their spinner to bat against the USA, but it would be a sweet dilemma for the Indian captain Rohit Sharma, as he batted well against Pakistan in their last T20 World Cup 2024 match.

He signed off by saying, “You (the batters) are playing balls that are coming straight but either Kuldeep or Yuzi (Yuzvendra) Chahal delivers the balls above eye level. So, it can happen that you say he (Kuldeep) can come in place of Axar (Patel). However, Axar performed splendidly in the last match. So, it is a dilemma. It is very easy for the captain because it's a problem of plenty. It's a sweet predicament. India have all four aces. How will you lose?”

Notably, Team India is just one win away from securing a place in the Super 8s of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, and if they manage to beat the USA on Wednesday, they will become the third team to progress in the next round after Australia and South Africa.
