AB De Villiers and Virat Kohli played for over 10 years with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL. They made many memories together and won many matches as well. Not winning an IPL title is the only regret they will have over the last 16 seasons.

RCB parted ways with Sanjay Bangar and Mike Hesson ahead of IPL 2024. Given De Villiers’ history with the franchise, he might be one of the targets as head coach ahead of the next season.

The former South African skipper who is active on Youtube in recent times, spoke about Virat Kohli and his impact on the franchise and overall in the IPL. In his recent Youtube video, ABD recalled an instance when Kohli was talking to the young players from the SRH side in IPL 2020 and giving them advice and inputs on the game.

“It was in Sharjah, and we were playing the Sunrisers Hyderabad. We had a good win. But after the game, there were literally six or seven players from the Sunrisers team around Virat Kohli,” said AB De Villiers.

“He was giving them a coaching lesson, talking about batting, about life, about the challenges, the pressure of the game, and technique. They covered everything. I was just standing on the side there watching this happen and unfold right in front of my eyes. That is the beauty of the IPL,” he further said.

Virat Kohli Has A Beautiful Heart: AB De Villiers

De Villiers further spoke about Virat Kohli’s personality off the field. The world got to see a glimpse of the game when he met West Indies wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva’s mother during the second Test in Trinidad.

“I also have a lot of respect for Virat’s human side. He has a beautiful heart, and I can call myself lucky to have witnessed that firsthand. Not a lot of people get the opportunity, not only to see this emotional, fighter of a guy on the field, but he is actually quite a softy off the field,” said De Villiers on Virat’s personality.

Virat Kohli scored 639 runs in IPL 2023 as he gave glimpses of his return to form. He carried that form into Test cricket as well with scores of 76 and 121 against West Indies.
