I’m Someone Who Has Constantly Learnt From My Lows: Ravichandran Ashwin
While speaking to Cricbuzz about his Test journey so far after the 700-wicket feat, Ravichandran Ashwin said he is someone who constantly learns from his lows.
“There is no cricketer or human being in this world that has gone through the highs without the lows. When you have the lows, it gives you two choices, either you sulk or talk about it and then complain about it and go along with it and go down. Or you learn from it. So I’m someone who’s constantly learnt from my lows”, the 36-year-old spinner said.

Ravichandran Ashwin also reckoned that his journey in cricket has been not very easy because it is draining to search for excellence. He is also thankful for all his lows because, without them, there are no highs.
“In fact the best thing that’ll happen today after this good day that I’ve had is that I’ll have a good meal, have a good conversation, talk to my family and go to bed and then forget about it. When you’ve had a good day, you know you’ve had a good day but there are areas you can work on and get better for tomorrow”.
“This constant search for excellence has held me in good stead all the time, but it’s also been incredibly draining. It’s not a journey that’s been very easy. For me, the journey has been draining, but I’m very thankful for all the lows because without the lows there are no highs”, said the no.1 ICC Test bowler.
Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin made a fabulous entry into the Test team after missing the ICC WTC final 2023 where he was dropped from playing XI. He single-handedly crushed the Caribbean side, dismissing openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul at the start.
Later, he also bundled out Alick Athanaze and Alzarri Joseph. In the end, he finished the West Indies innings by dismissing no.11 Jomel Warrican’s wicket. In his 24.3. overs, Ashwin’s spell read 60-5.
West Indies was bowled out for just 150. Later, India reached 80-0 at the stumps with openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma on strike, hitting 40 and 30 respectively.
