The 31-year-old India National Cricket Team left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat has said that there was a long gap between the two Tests he played and during that period he completely transformed himself as a bowler.
Unadkat made his Test debut in the first Test of the 2010-11 tour of South Africa, where he went wicketless and conceded 101 runs in 26 overs. The seasoned left-arm speedster was dropped from the side following his debut and he went to domestic cricket to grind and finally earned his recall after 12 long years for the Bangladesh series in 2022 as a replacement for Mohammed Shami.

“It’s been a long time. I played my first Test back in 2010. I have become a different bowler, I have played 100 first-class games between the two Tests. I am happy to be back.”
You got to grab the chance with both hands – Jaydev Unadkat
Jaydev Unadkat further said that there is a lot of competition in the Indian team and he will have to grab his chances with both hands in the ongoing series against West Indies.
“You got to grab the chance with both hands. My job is to get crucial strikes. It’s an important series for me as a couple of bowlers are rested as well. I haven’t played a lot of Tests to be called as leader of the attack,” Jaydev Unadkat said.
“I have played a lot on flat tracks, so I have the experience. It’s been a very good experience for me (in the West Indies),” he added.
Jaydev Unadkat went wicketless in the first Test at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica as the match was dominated by spinners. So far he has also not been among wickets in the second Test at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
