Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has commented on the much-talked-about omission of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from India’s T20I team.
The selectors recently announced the squad for the upcoming five-match series against West Indies and neither Rohit nor Kohli made it to the team. The latest snub has further raised questions over Kohli and Rohit’s T20I future. They have not played a single T20I match for India since the loss against England in the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinal in November.
When they were first omitted from the T20I side, it was said that both the players have been rested and will return to the T20I side later. However, neither of them has managed to earn a recall so far. With Rohit out of the T20I side, Hardik Pandya has been leading the team.

Sourav Ganguly on Rohit and Kohli’s omission:
Rohit and Kohli’s absence from the Indian T20I side has become the talk of the town once again. Many believe that the latest snub is another big hint that the selectors have decided to move on. With the T20 World Cup lined up next year, the selectors have been trying out new faces in every series and Kohli and Rohit are unlikely to be a part of the T20I team again.

Sourav Ganguly, however, believes otherwise. Backing both Rohit and Kohli, Ganguly stated that the selectors should always stick to the policy of picking the best players irrespective of who they are. He said that both the senior players still have a place in India’s T20I side and also pointed out Kohli’s impressive display in this year’s IPL.
“Pick your best players, it doesn’t matter who they are. In my opinion, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma still have a place in T20I cricket and I cannot see why a Kohli or a Rohit cannot play T20I cricket. Kohli was in great form in the IPL, and both have place in T20 cricket, if you ask me,” Ganguly told RevSportz.
