Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav opened up about not being a regular in India’s setup after winning the Player of the Match award in the first ODI against the West Indies. Kuldeep Yadav admitted that sometimes he doesn’t get a chance to play due to the team combination and the situation.
Kuldeep Yadav impressed with his bowling in the first ODI of the three-match series in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Thursday, July 27. The 28-year-old ran through the opposition’s lower order, picking up four wickets in his three-over spell. He conceded just six runs and bowled two maiden overs.

These Things Are Normal – Kuldeep Yadav
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Kuldeep Yadav stated that he accepts the team management’s decision regarding his selection in the playing XI.
“Most of the times, when I don’t get to play it is because of the situation and combination. It is a normal thing now, I have been playing cricket for so many years, it has been more than six years now. These things are normal,” Kuldeep said.
Last year, Kuldeep Yadav was dropped from the playing XI for the second Test against Bangladesh. Notably, he was the Man of the Match in the first Test in the series. He picked up eight wickets and scored a crucial 40 runs in the first innings.
The Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer stated that he is currently focusing on consistently bowling the right lengths and not thinking too much about taking wickets.
“I don’t think much about taking wickets now. My focus is more on the process that what length I should be bowling. Since the past one and half years, when I have returned from the injury, I have tried to bowl on those good lengths,” he further stated.
“I want to be more consistent with the length, and as far are wickets are concerned somedays you will get the wicket, while on other’s you won’t. Situation is also very important, I try my variations only when the oppositions have lost four or five wickets quickly,” he concluded.
The Rohit Sharma-led team will take on the Shai Hope-led team in the second ODI at the same venue on Saturday, July 29. The Men in Blue will be hoping to secure the series before the final match.
