IND vs WI: Spinning Surface vs India? Aakash Chopra Slams West Indies For 'Digging Their Own Grave' In 1st Test

Former India opener Aakash Chopra feels that West Indies made a mistake by preparing a spinning surface against India in the 1st Test at Windsor Park. Aakash Chopra also believes that West Indies might prepare a different pitch for the next Test at Port of Spain.
With a duo spin attack of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, India bundled out West Indies for just 150 and 130 in both innings. While right-arm spinner Ashwin grabbed 12 wickets during the match, left-arm spinner Jadeja captured 5 scalps in his kitty. Hence, both ripped through West Indies’ batting line-up with ease in both innings.

This Is Called Digging Your Own Grave: Aakash Chopra
While speaking on his YouTube channel about India vs West Indies 1st Test, commentator Aakash Chopra slammed West Indies for digging their own grave by setting up a spin wicket against India.
“West Indies might try to prepare a different pitch at Port of Spain (for the second Test) because if you play on such a pitch, this is called digging your own grave. You had no chance of beating India on this pitch. It was a spinning surface,” Chopra said.

Ravichandran Ashwin Is A Different Beast Altogether: Aakash Chopra
Ravichandran Ashwin was a stand-out bowler for India in the match. The off-spinner hunted a 5-wicket haul in the 1st innings and a 7-wicket haul in the 2nd innings. Aakash Chopra praised Ashwin by calling him a different beast on a spin track.
“Ravichandran Ashwin is a different beast altogether. If you see his class, if the ball goes away with the arm, he gets the outside edge, and then he bowls the ball slower, and it turns after pitching, hits the pads or goes through the gap between bat and pad, or hits the bat and pad and goes to short leg,” added the reputed cricket commentator.
Meanwhile, India outplayed West Indies by an innings and 141 runs in 1st Test. India’s 1st innings total of 421-5 (d) was enough to crush the Caribbean side in the match. India now lead the two-match series 1-0. IND vs WI 2nd Test begins on July 20 at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.
