Young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal stated that he learned a lot from the season after winning Player of the Match in the first Test match against the West Indies. Yashasvi Jaiswal said that he has been focusing on his preparation to perform well in the upcoming matches.
India earned their first points in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-2025 cycle. The Rohit Sharma-led team hammered the Kraigg Brathwaite-led team by an innings and 141 runs on Day 3 of the first Test of the two-match series at Windsor Park in Dominica on Friday, July 14.

Preparation Was Pretty Good – Yashasvi Jaiswal
Speaking after the first game, Yashasvi Jaiswal thanked head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma for their support in his debut match.
“Preparation was pretty good. We were having a nice session. Spoke a lot to Rahul Dravid, sir,” Yashasvi said.
“Would like to thank all the selectors and Rohit (Sharma) bhai for having faith in me. It’s really nice, I have been working on this. I’ve been focusing on preparing well and having discipline,” he added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal expressed his gratitude towards the individuals who have supported him during his cricketing journey. He also mentioned that he enjoyed batting alongside the senior players.
“Playing Test cricket for India is very special and emotional for me. This is just the start, I need to keep my focus and keep working on my cricket,” he further stated.
“Lot of people helped me through my journey and I want to thank each and every one of them. It was tremendous batting with the senior players. I look forward to learning more from them,” he concluded.
The 21-year-old delivered a memorable performance in his debut match, scoring 171 runs in India’s first innings, including 16 fours and a six. He was awarded Player of the Match for his outstanding knock, which contributed to one of the team’s biggest victories.
