On Wednesday, July 26, former India National Cricket Team batsman Wasim Jaffer named his India Playing XI for the first ODI of the three-match series against the West Indies National Cricket Team.
India recently defeated West Indies in a two-match Test series by 1-0 after the second Test ended in a draw due to rain. The teams will next lock horns in a three-match ODI series and a five-match T20I series.
The first ODI between Rohit Sharma-led India and Shai Hope-led West Indies is scheduled to be held at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on Thursday, July 27.
Meanwhile, Wasim Jaffer picked Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli as his top-3 for the first ODI. He picked Sanju Samson as the wicketkeeper-batter in the team over Ishan Kishan, who recently made his debut in Test cricket. Also, the 45-year-old slotted the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter at the No.4 position.

Jaffer further picked Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel as his three all-rounders in the team. Also, Jaffer slotted the explosive batter Suryakumar Yadav at the No.6 position in his team.
Talking further about Jaffer???s playing XI, he picked Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik as his pacers while Kuldeep Yadav was included as a wrist-spin option ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal. Jaffer also left Shardul Thakur out of the playing XI, which came as a surprise to many considering his ability to get crucial breakthroughs for the side and his good hitting ability with the bat.
