West Indies take on India in the second Test in Trinidad starting from July 20. The Windies suffered an innings defeat in the first Test and needs a lot to o to win the second Test. They are currently ranked eighth in the ICC Test rankings.
The Windies have put their faith in an uncapped spinner as they look to bounce back in the upcoming second and final Test against India after suffering a crushing defeat in the series-opener.

Ahead of the second Test in Trinidad, West Indies have called up off-spinner Kevin Sinclair in their 13-man squad in place of allrounder Raymon Reifer.
The 23-year-old has already plied his trade for West Indies in the white-ball format, having played seven ODIs and six T20Is so far. He was a part of the West Indies squad that recently participated in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe. He is yet to make his Test debut.
West Indies batters need to uplift their performances after being bowled out for 150 and 130 respectively. Kirk McKenzise and Alick Athanaze have retained their place in the XI as has Rahkeem Cornwall.

The inexperience of the West Indies Test side might face a hefty challenge against the full-strength India squad. Recently West Indies failed to qualify for the ICC ODI World Cup in India.
The challenge for them also will be now focusing on the upcoming Test match in Trinidad after a disappointing batting performance in Dominica. The batting will depend on skipper Kraigg Brathwaite and the bowling mostly on Jason Holder and Kemar Roach. In this article, we take a look at the possible West Indies XI for the first Test.

Kraigg Brathwaite (C)
Brathwaite will lead West Indies and will also open the batting for the side. He is the most experienced player in this Windies outfit. He has scored over 5300 runs and a lot will depend on how he bats for the side. The skipper scored 20 and 7 in the two innings of the first Test.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul
Chanderpaul opened the innings in Dominica and scored 12 and 7 respectively. He is the son of former West Indies legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul who played over 100 Test matches for the Caribbean. His son so far has played seven and has already scored a hundred and a double hundred.
Jermaine Blackwood
Jermaine Blackwood is the vice-captain of the side and one of the more experienced batters in the lineup. He scored 14 and 5 in the two innings. The right-hander is inching closer to 3000 Test runs. Blackwood has played 55 Tests for West Indies.
Alick Athanaze
Athanaze made his Test debut in Dominica. He scored 47 and 28 in the two innings and displayed great patience and technique. He is seen as a future superstar in West Indies cricket. He bowled some overs in the first Test as well.
Jason Holder
Holder should bat at number five in the batting order. He is one of the most experienced batters in the lineup and should use his experience. The former skipper scored 18 and 20 in the two innings. Holder along with skipper Kraigg Brathwaite are the two most experienced players in the lineup.
Rahkeem Cornwall
Cornwall is a part of the Test side and has made a comeback after two years. He played his last Test in 2021. He played 10 Test matches taking 35 wickets and scoring close to 300 runs. He will be the specialist spinner in the side and dismissed Virat Kohli in the first Test.
Kirk McKenzie
Bowling all-rounder Kirk McKenzie is expected to make his debut in Trinidad. The 22-year-old has scored 591 runs in 9 games in First-Class cricket averaging almost 40. He was also part of the Test series against Bangladesh A in May.
Joshua Da Silva
Da Silva will slot in at eight as the specialist keeper in the XI. He has played 23 Test matches and averages close to 30 in Test cricket. The keeper-batter is closing in on 1000 runs in Test cricket. He scored two and 13 in the first Test.
Alzarri Joseph
Joseph along with Kemar Roach are the two pace spearheads of West Indies. Joseph and Holder were called back early for the World Cup qualifiers for preparations ahead of the first Test. He has picked 86 wickets in 29 Tests.
Kemar Roach
Roach will lead the pace attack along with Alzarri Joseph. The veteran pacer has picked up 11 wickets in three Tests against India including the wicket of Virat Kohli once. He took 1 for 50 in the first Test in Dominica.
Kevin Sinclair
Uncapped spinner Kevin Sinclair might make his Test debut in Trinidad. He was added in place of allrounder Raymon Reifer in the squad. The 23-year-old has already played ODI and T20I cricket for West Indies.
