Legendary Indian all-rounder Vinoo Mankad’s son and former Mumbai cricketer, Rahul Mankad, passed away at the age of 66, on Wednesday, March 30.

Rahul Mankad, the right-handed batter and slow left-arm bowler, played cricket from 1972 to 1985. He played 47 First-class matches in which he scored 2111 runs, including 5 centuries and 12 fifties while he picked up 7 wickets. Also, he played 10 List A games for Mumbai and scored 66 runs.

Meanwhile, it was earlier reported by Cricbuzz that the son of legendary Indian all-rounder Vinoo Mankad, Rahul, had suffered a heart attack and was getting treated in London.

However, on Wednesday the development was confirmed that Rahul was unable to survive after suffering a heart-related disease and he has unfortunately passed away.

Former India pacer TA Sekar took to Twitter to state that he is shocked after hearing the news of Rahul’s demise.

Meanwhile, Journalists Rajdeep Sardesai offered his condolences through a post on Twitter.

“A flag bearer of one of the greatest surnames in Indian cricket, a very very fine player for Mumbai, and above all else, a wonderful person.. Rahul Mankad has passed away. Om shanti Jigabhai,” he wrote on Twitter.

Also, journalist Amol Karhadkar stated that the demise of multiple-time Ranji Trophy winner, Rahul, is a great loss to the cricket fraternity.

“Such a great loss to the cricket fraternity. Rahul Mankad, multiple Ranji Trophy winner and the last surviving son of the legendary Vinoo Mankad, passes away after a brief ailment,” Karhadkar tweeted.
