India will look to continue their winning start in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 when they take on champions Pakistan. It will be the second game for both the teams and fifth of the tournament. The match is scheduled to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday (February 23).
India began their campaign with a fine 6-wicket win over Bangladesh. The Men in Blue outplayed Bangladesh in all the departments. Bowling first, India had Bangladesh reeling at 35 for 5 at one stage. A century from Towhid Hridoy then helped Bangladesh recover and post a challenging total of 228 runs.
However, it did not turn out to be a winning total for the Bangla Tigers. Riding on Shubman Gill's century, India chased down the total inside 47 overs and lost only 4 wickets.
With India now eyeing another victory, we are taking a look at the India Playing 11 for the upcoming IND vs PAK clash.
India Playing 11 vs Pakistan- ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Match 5:
Openers: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are expected to be the two openers in the India Playing 11 for the upcoming game against Pakistan. They will be looking to give the team a good start with the bat once again.
With India chasing a tricky total of 229 runs on a slow pitch against Bangladesh, Rohit and Gill made sure to keep their team on the front foot by adding 69 runs for the opening wicket. They will be eyeing a similar performance if not better against Pakistan.
Captain Rohit could not convert his start into a big score and departed after scoring 41 runs off 36 balls. On the other hand, Gill fully capitalized on the start and went on to smash an unbeaten ton. He scored an unbeaten 101 off 129 balls.
Middle-order batsmen and allrounders: Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja
Virat Kohli struggled on the slow pitch but still managed to get the start. He, however, could not stay till the end and departed after scoring 22 runs off 38 balls. In-form Shreyas Iyer did not start his campaign on a good note either as he was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman for just 15 runs.
Axar Patel came out to bat ahead of KL Rahul but he did not last long either. The all-rounder scored only 8 runs. However, Axar managed to impress with the ball during the game. He was agonisingly close to picking up a hat-trick in his very first over but captain Rohit Sharma dropped a sitter at slip.
Rahul impressed with the bat as he scored an unbeaten 41 and shared a match-winning partnership with Gill. The likes of Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja did not get the chance to bat. With the ball, both the all-rounders failed to get any wickets.
Hence, all the middle-order players are set to retain their place in the India Playing 11 vs Pakistan.
Bowlers: Harshit Rana, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav
The bowling lineup is expected to remain the same in the India Playing 11 vs Pakistan. Mohammed Shami's love story with the ICC competitions continued as he picked up another fifer.
Harshit Rana picked up 3 wickets while Kuldeep Yadav could not pick up any wickets but is expected to retain his spot in the India Playing 11 vs Pakistan.
