India Playing 11 vs Pakistan– Super 4 Asia Cup 2023. India take on Pakistan on September 10 in Colombo in their first Super 4 match. The match starts at 3 pm IST and is a crucial one for India after their rained-out affair against the Men in Green previously. This is Pakistan’s second Super 4 match after they rolled over Bangladesh in their previous match.

There is a 90 percent chance of rain in the IND-PAK Super 4 match in Colombo. The ACC thus has decided to have a reserve day (September 11) for the game, in case the match is rained out on Sunday. The ACC was all set to shift the Super 4 games to Hambantota. However, they decided to make a U-turn on their decision and decided to stick with Colombo as the venue despite the rain threat. None of the other matches apart from the India-Pakistan game have a reserve day.

Talking about the Indian team, Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul have joined the team ahead of this marquee clash. While Rahul missed the first two games with a niggle and treated himself at the NCA, Bumrah traveled home for the birth of his first child. Both the cricketers are fit which is good news for the Indian team.

The Indian batting was tested properly in the rained-out game against Pakistan earlier. The top-order was dismantled by Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah capitalised on the good start.

Yet again the Indian batting will be up against the very reputed pace trio. Rauf is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament so far with nine wickets. Shaheen and Naseem have taken seven each They are the top three wicket-talers in the tournament so far.

Meanwhile, with the return of KL Rahul, the debate for the number five spot has started again. It will be interesting to see if he makes a direct return to the XI or if Kishan after his consistent run persists with that number. There is also a tiff-off between Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer for the number four slot. In this article, we predict India’s playing XI for their Super 4 match against Pakistan on Sunday.

Rohit is fresh off his unbeaten half-century against Nepal. He was dismissed early in the last match against Pakistan and will need to negate the threat of Shaheen Afridi. It will be interesting to see how he tackles the Pakistan pacer.

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill too scored an unbeaten century against Nepal. In his first game against Pakistan, he scored just 10 off 31 deliveries. Gill added an unbeaten 147-run stand with Rohit against Nepal and needs to do something similar against Pakistan.

Virat Kohli

Kohli scored just four in the previous match against Pakistan. He is a player who steps up in big games against Pakistan and needs to do so on Sunday. Ideally, Virat Kohli needs to score a century for India.

Shreyas Iyer / Suryakumar Yadav

Shreyas Iyer scored 14 in his previous game against Pakistan. He has been consistent at that number and batted at that number in his return game. Iyer has not improved his game against short-pitched deliveries which was his undoing in the previous match.

Ishan Kishan / KL Rahul (WK)

One among Kishan or Rahul will bat at five and keep wickets. Kishan seems ahead in the race at the moment after his 82-run knock against Pakistan in the previous match. Meanwhile, Rahul’s long absence from international cricket might work against him.

Hardik Pandya

Pandya will bat at five. He scored 87 in the last match against Pakistan. In case India loses wickets early, the onus will be on him once again to score runs. He will be crucial for India with the ball as well.

Ravindra Jadeja

Jadeja will slot in at seven. He scored 14 off 22 balls against Pakistan in the previous match. Against Nepal, he has a good outing picking 3/40. He is three short of 200 ODI wickets.

Shardul Thakur

Thakur will slot in at eight extending India’s batting-order. He is someone who picks key wickets and thus is seen as someone with a golden arm. He might be chosen ahead of Mohammed Siraj who was expensive in the match against Nepal.

Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah will be back in the XI to lead the bowling attack. He missed the match against Nepal due to the birth of his son. A good outing for Bumrah is important for India to win the match.

Mohammed Shami

Shami will be the third seamer in the XI. He did not play in the first game against Pakistan which was a surprise. Against Nepal, he picked 1 for 29. Shami too is crucial for India’s win against Pakistan.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep concludes India’s predicted playing XI against Pakistan. Against Nepal, he bowled a spell of none for 34 and was unlucky not to pick up wickets. He is nine wickets shy of 150 ODI wickets.
