This is the first time that India is hosting an ICC World Cup all by itself. In the previous two editions in 1996 and 2011, they were the co-hosts. Incidentally, India last won the World Cup in 2011, when they were the co-hosts. The tournament will be played from October 5-November 19 with India beginning their campaign from on October 8 against Australia in Chennai.
