Narendra Shah, a former office bearer of the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand and coach of international cricketer Sneh Rana, attempted to take his own life by consuming poison at his residence in Nehru Colony on Friday. Narendra Shah has been admitted to Doon Medical College and Hospital in Dehradun, and he is currently receiving medical treatment.
This incident happened after his audio clip of having an obscene conversation with a girl cricketer who trained at his cricket academy went viral on social media platforms. The Dehradun police took action after obscene audio was released, and Narendra Shah has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Narendra Shah was sacked from the post of women’s cricket co-convener at the Uttarakhand Cricket Association (CAU) on Saturday. However, he remains the secretary of the Chamoli District Cricket Association. The girl is reportedly a minor from Chamoli district and is currently doing her 10th-standard education and cricket training in Dehradun.
Superintendent of Police (City) Sarita Doval said a case was registered against Shah for using obscene and abusive language about her cast under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, the POCSO Act, and the SC/ST Act. According to the official, other girls have made similar complaints against Shah, and the police are investigating the case.

The Cricket Association of Uttarakhand spokesperson Vijay Pratap Malla spoke about the CAU’s stand on Narendra Shah and said that no complaint has been received against Shah from the girl cricketer or her family yet.
“Taking cognizance of the media reports about the viral audio clip, the apex body of the state’s cricket association on Saturday convened a virtual meeting and decided to remove Narendra Shah from the post of co-convenor of the women’s cricket.”
“Shah also holds the post of secretary of Chamoli district cricket association. We have taken action at our level and removed him from the CAU post. His removal from the post of Chamoli district association is to be decided at their level. We are yet to receive any complaint from the girl cricketer or her family against Shah. If we receive any such complaint, further action will be taken against him after an inquiry.”
