Former Indian cricketers Ajay Jadeja and Ashish Nehra lauded Kane Williamson for his excellent batting approach for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the match against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021. Delhi Capitals pulled off the victory in the super over after the match ended in a tie.
Kane Williamson was the crucial factor that took Sunrisers Hyderabad close to the victory in the match. Williamson kept his patience while batting and scored unbeaten 66 runs off 51 balls.
Sunrisers Hyderabad had to chase 160 at a tricky pitch at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Kane Williamson arrived on the crease after opener David Warner lost his wicket in the 4th over.
While other batsmen kept losing their wickets at a low score, Kane Williamson held his nerves and played till the end. Even after Sunrisers Hyderabad lost 7 wickets, Kane Williamson kept the winning hopes alive for the team while staying on the crease.
Kane Williamson Gives His Hundred Percent: Ajay Jadeja
Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja praised Kane Williamson saying that the New Zealand cricketer gives his hundred per cent efforts no matter what the situation is.
“You always get a good feeling after watching Kane Williamson. He keeps calm and no matter what the situation is, he gives his hundred per cent efforts.
“He kept going on till the end against Delhi Capitals. Prior to the last four overs, I didn’t feel SRH could take the game till the end but Williamson didn’t lose the nerve,” Ajay Jadeja said while speaking to Crizbuzz.
Jadeja also said that Williamson is someone who is not bothered by the situation of the wicket or bowler.
“Unlike other big names in the side, Williamson is a player who isn’t bothered by the situation of the wicket or the kind of bowler he is facing. He keeps on doing the basics and maintains his consistency,” Ajay Jadeja added.
Kane Williamson Has A Strong Mindset: Ashish Nehra
Ashish Nehra praised Kane Williamson’s strong mindset while batting in the match.
“I’ve played against Williamson and he is the kind of batsman who finds out the solution. As a batsman, you have to take risk in the T20 format but he is very calculative while taking a risk. For example, the way Kedar Jadhav lost his wicket.
“It was quite difficult to step out and hit a six to Amit Mishra in this kind of pitch. I’m not saying that was impossible. But Kane Williamson didn’t do that. He stepped out for singles and didn’t go for a six. That defines how strong his mindset is,” Ashish Nehra said.
With his commendable batting, Kane Williamson took the match to the final over with Sunrisers Hyderabad needing 16 runs for victory. He failed to pull off the victory as the game ended in a tie. In the super over,
SRH managed to score 7 runs off Axar Patel’s spin bowling. Rashid Khan also bowled well for Sunrisers Hyderabad but Delhi Capitals managed to pull off the victory on the final ball.
