On Wednesday (20th January), all the eight teams have released their list of final retained players before the upcoming players’ auction for the IPL 2021. The IPL 2021 auction is likely to take place on February 16.

Wednesday was the last day for the pre-auction trading window. Now, all the teams can by additional players by using their remaining purse value, including their released players, during the upcoming players’ auction. The date of the next players’ auction has been officially announced yet.

The 2016 IPL winners SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) were the third-best team in the IPL 2020 as they were eliminated by Delhi Capitals from the Qualifier 2. They also finished in the third position in the final IPL 2020 points table with 14 points.

Earlier in the league stage of that tournament, though RCB also earned 14 points, they finished in the fourth position in the points table due to lower net run-rate than SRH.
