IPL 2021: Credit To Delhi Capitals' Bowlers For How They Executed After 12th Over, Says Mayank Agarwal

Punjab Kings opener Mayank Agarwal lauded Delhi Capitals bowlers for their bowling after his team’s loss by 6 wickets in IPL 2021 encounter. Agarwal said that Delhi Capitals’ bowlers bowled very well after the 12th over and credit should be given to them. Punjab Kings lost the match to Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets after the latter comfortably chased down 196 runs in just 18.2 overs.

Mayank Agarwal, who scored 69 off 36 in the match, accounted for a great opening partnership with skipper KL Rahul (61). Both the Punjab Kings openers smashed 122 runs in just 12.4 overs for the opening partnership. With a run rate of almost 10 at that moment, it looked like Punjab Kings would easily surpass the 200-run mark. However, after Mayank Agarwal got out, Delhi Capitals bowled really well to halt Punjab Kings to 195-4.

Credit To Delhi Bowlers, Says Mayank Agarwal

While speaking during the post-match presentation, Mayank Agarwal said the Delhi Capitals bowled really well after the 12th over.

“It wasn’t as easy as it looked in the 2nd innings. I think Delhi Capitals batted exceedingly well also there was dew as well. It wasn’t as easy. Also, credit to the Delhi bowlers for how they executed after the 12th over. That’s what we recognized that they executed their death overs beautifully,” said Mayank Agarwal.

Talking about his batting, Agarwal said that he kept the mindset that worked for him last year.

“I wasn’t thinking too much. I just planned to keep the mindset that worked for me last year. In the last match, I got a good ball, I didn’t want to stress too much about it and wanted to look forward so just went out there and stuck to what has worked for me,” Mayank Agarwal added.

Agarwal failed to score big in Punjab Kings’ first two matches. However, he bounced back with his 69-run quickfire against Delhi Capitals. While chasing 195, Shikhar Dhawan played an incredible knock of 92 runs for Delhi Capitals.

With a great cameo by Marcus Stoinis (27 off 13) later, Delhi Capitals managed to seal the victory with 10 balls to go. After the match, Delhi Capitals moved to the 2nd spot with 2 victories in 3 matches. On the other hand, Punjab Kings moved to the 7th spot with 1 victory in 3 games.
