Rohit Sharma is the iconic batsman in the Mumbai Indians team and has led from the front for the team for the last seven years. With 326 runs from nine innings, Rohit is leading for Mumbai Indians in the batting charts with a strike rate of 128.85.
Rohit Sharma scored 43 against RCB:
In the last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rohit Sharma gave a solid start to the team’s chase of 166 as the captain scored 43 from 28 balls before he was dismissed by Glenn Maxwell in the 10th over.
After Rohit’s departure, Mumbai Indians middle-order slumped atrociously as Maxwell and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal got wickets at regular sessions before purple-cap holder Harshal Patel bagged a hat-trick in the 17th over to script a marvellous comeback for RCB in the game.
Rohit Sharma is made to take more responsibility than required: Rajkumar Sharma
Mumbai Indians were eventually bowled out for 111 and lost the match by 54 runs to Virat Kohli’s team. Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma feels that the Mumbai Indians team relies a lot on Rohit and noted that the team’s middle order and lower-middle order is out of form.
“Mumbai Indians is overdependent on Rohit Sharma. He is taking a lot of stress and is not able to play the big shots. His strike rate is also reducing, and he knows his middle and lower-middle order are not in form.
“So the captain is made to take more responsibility than required. He is playing in a way where he knows if he gets out, the team will collapse,” Rajkumar Sharma said on YouTube channel IVM Podcasts.
Mumbai Indians have won five IPL titles under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, but this year they face the challenge to win their remaining four matches if they want to qualify for the playoffs.
Rajkumar Sharma is confident that Rohit and his meant will bounce back to make the cut for the knockout stage.
“I have a lot of expectations from MI. They will surely bounce back and qualify for the playoffs,” Rajkumar Sharma said.
Mumbai Indians will play against Punjab Kings on Tuesday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
