IPL 2024: 100 Crores! IPL Franchises To Get Higher Salary Cap in Next Auction- Reports

According to reports, IPL franchises will get a salary cap of Rs. 100 crore during IPL 2024 mini-auction. This is a Rs. 5 crore increase from the last season. In the last season’s mega auction, IPL teams had a salary cap of Rs. 95 crores.
IPL 2024 mini-auction is expected to take place in December this year. BCCI will decide the dates for IPL 2024 auction after ICC World Cup 2023 in October-November. There are 4 potential venues that can host the event.

IPL 2024 Auction To Happen In 3rd of 4th Week of December: Reports
During a conversation with InsideSport, a BCCI official informed me that the IPL 2024 mini-auction will take place in the third week or fourth week of December. He also added that it will not happen on Christmas evening.
“The focus is now on World Cup and once every detail is taken care of, we will move towards IPL. We will decide the date after the World Cup. It is most likely in the third or fourth week of December.
But it will only be discussed at the IPL GC meeting later on. It will not be on Christmas Eve for sure. We will try to look at a comfortable date for all,” the BCCI official told InsideSport.

The official also revealed that this time, the salary cap will increase by 5 crores. He also informed us that Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Kochi, and Kolkata are the potential venues for IPL 2024 mini-auction. Last season, the auction took place in Kochi, Kerala.
Since the Indian Premier League 2024 mini-auction is expected to take place in December 2023, the IPL franchise can be asked to submit the retentions list around November. In the last auction, the franchises were allowed to keep a maximum of 15 players in their squad.

In the last auction, a total of 80 players were sold to different franchises. All 10 franchises spent a total of Rs. 167 crores to grab their favorite players. Sam Curran emerged as the costliest player ever in IPL auctions, fetching Rs. 18.50 crore by Punjab Kings.
Cameron Green and Ben Stokes were the next most expensive players. While Green was picked for Rs. 17.25 crore by Mumbai Indians, Ben Stokes was picked by CSK for Rs. 16.25 crore.
