Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is reportedly not in favor of Hemang Badani being the head coach of Delhi Capitals. Badani recently replaced Ricky Ponting in the role. The decision was taken by Delhi Capitals' new management GMR group.
While Badani was appointed as the head coach, Venugopal Rao is the new director of cricket for the franchise. Rao has replaced another big international name, Sourav Ganguly for this role.
The new management, led by the head coach Hemang Badani, will have a big task in hand ahead of the mega auctions. If they do not retain Rishabh Pant, they will be looking for a new captain for the franchise, which won't be an easy task.

Rishabh Pant not in favor of Hemang Badani as Delhi Capitals head coach
According to Cricbuzz, Rishabh Pant had a meeting with the team owners in which he made several demands regarding the coaching staff and team composition of Delhi Capitals for the next season of the Indian Premier League.
Out of all the requests, one of the requests was to bring a high-profile India player as a head coach or mentor of the team. However, the request was declined as the GMR group had already signed Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao to be part of the coaching staff.
GMR group not looking for high-profile names in coaching staff
It is believed that the GMR group is not looking for high-profile names as a part of their coaching staff. As a result, Pant's suggestion to appoint a high-profile name might not go with the thought process of the group.
While both Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao are not high-profile names like Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly, both have enough experience working in various coaching set-ups. But it will be a challenge for both of them to prepare a solid squad for the upcoming IPL season.
Coming Pant's retention is not yet finalized. Pant's performances for India in red-ball and white-ball cricket were also taken into consideration. There were discussions on his retention amount as well during the meeting.
Rishabh Pant's retention has not been confirmed yet
As the date for the submission of the retention list nears its deadline, the speculation for the retained players is fastening up. Rishabh Pant is one of those players who is yet not confirmed to be retained by his team Delhi Capitals.
Pant is one of the high-profile names in the tournament and is also the captain of Delhi Capitals. However, it is believed that the Delhi Capitals have not finalized his retention yet.
It will be a big call from Delhi Capitals management to decide Rishabh Pant. The wicketkeeper is a star Indian cricketer and is also a T20 World Cup winner. He has been associated with Delhi Capitals ever since his IPL debut and has played several important knocks for them.
