Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan’s dream of making a comeback to the Indian cricket team for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh has yet again been delayed.

Ishan Kishan was ruled out of the first game of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024, starting on September 5. Ishan was named in the India D squad for the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024, and he was aiming to impress the selectors ahead of the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

However, the wicketkeeper-batsman failed to recover fully to take part in the tournament opener between India D and India C. The left-handed batter was sidelined due to a groin injury sustained during the Buchi Babu Tournament.

Later, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Ishan Kishan could not take part in the first Duleep Trophy game, and he was replaced by Sanju Samson in the India D squad.

However, the BCCI assured that Kishan’s condition is being carefully monitored by the medical team to facilitate his prompt recovery. The BCC said in a statement: “Wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the first round of the Duleep Trophy due to a groin injury sustained during the ongoing All-India Buchi Babu Tournament.”

Meanwhile, amid the horrific show of the India D team in the first Duleep Trophy 2024 match against India C in Anantapur, Ishan Kishan’s cryptic post on social media is doing the rounds on the internet.

The 26-year-old player shared a story on his Instagram handle where he was not seen doing any workout at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), but the slogan on the gym’s wall caught the attention of many.

Actually, Ishan Kishan was highlighting the message in his clip to express his reaction to being sidelined from the Duleep Trophy opener against India C. The message on the wall reads: “Will it be easy? No. Worth it? Absolutely.”

Now, his post has been going viral on social media. It seems that he has indirectly targeted the BCCI, as the road ahead won’t be easy for him after being ousted from the central contracts, but he is determined to make a comeback.

Several Indian players missed the first Duleep Trophy 2024 match

Notably, Ishan was not given the central contract after his denial to play domestic cricket for Jharkhand earlier this year. Well, apart from Kishan, India A fast bowler Prasidh Krishna also missed the first match against India B at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium as he continues his recovery from recent surgery.

Previously, Suryakumar Yadav was ruled out due to a hand injury sustained while playing for Mumbai in the Buchi Babu Tournament. Additionally, Indian pacers Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik have been pulled from the tournament due to illness, while all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been released from the India B squad for reasons not specified.

Jadeja was last seen in action at the T20 World Cup 2024. Notably, Axar Patel single-handedly took India D to 164 runs on the board with his fabulous innings of 86 runs off 118 balls against India C on Day 1 of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 game.

Arshdeep Singh (13) and Srikar Bharat (13) could only cross the 10-run mark in the game.
