The Lanka Premier League 2022 kicks off on December 6 with Jaffna Kings taking the Galle Gladiators at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota in the first of the two games at the venue.
The first match starts at 3 pm IST. The second match will be played between Colombo Stars and Candy Falcons from 7.30 pm IST. Thisara Perera will lead the Jaffna side while Galle will be led by Kusal Mendis.
This is the third edition of the League to be played between December 6 to 23. A total of 5 teams are part of the Lanka Premier League 2022. They are Jaffna Kings, Galle Gladiators, Colombo Stars, Kandy Falcons, and Dambulla Giants. This year’s edition was officially scheduled for August but due to Sri Lanka’s economic crisis, the tournament was postponed.

A total of 24 matches will be played during Lanka Premier League 2022. Out of these, 20 matches will be played during the league stage. The top 4 teams in the points table after the league stage will qualify for playoffs. The winners of the playoffs will lock horns in the final in Colombo on December 23. The matches will be played across Hambantota, Pallekele, and Colombo.
Lanka Premier League 2022 is the third edition of the tournament. Jaffna Kings are the defending champions of the tournament. Jaffna defeated Galle by 23 runs in the final last year to clinch the trophy. The games will be played in a round-robin format, which means that each team will play every other team twice.
