India National Cricket Team pacer Jasprit Bumrah has achieved a massive feat in the history of Indian cricket. He became the first bowler from his country to go past the 904 rating points in the ICC Rankings for bowlers in the longest format of the game.

Jasprit Bumrah went past Ravichandran Ashwin's tally of 904 rating points, which the off-spinner achieved in December 2016, and became the highest-ever ranked Indian Test bowler in ICC rankings history. However, now the premier pacer has surpassed him.

Jasprit Bumrah brought his best with the ball at MCG

Jasprit Bumrah achieved the feat after his staggering effort with the ball during the recently concluded fourth Test against the Australia National Cricket Team. The match between the two teams took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne and saw the hosts winning by the margin of 184 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah was at his exceptional best with the ball in the match. Although the fast bowler went for some runs in the first innings, he made sure that he picked wickets and ended up taking a four-wicket haul and helping his team get the wickets at the crucial stage of the match.

Jasprit Bumrah brought his best with the ball in the second innings as he picked another five-wicket haul, adding to the wickets tally in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The fast bowler has taken 30 wickets in the series, and with one match more to go, he is expected to take a few more wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah achieving the rating points of 907 in Tests is the joint-17th in the all-time list – with Derek Underwood of England. Based on his staggering effort with the ball in Tests 2024, the fast bowler has been nominated for the ICC Cricketer of the Year and the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year.

Pat Cummins becomes the No.3 ranked bowler in Test cricket and the No.3 ranked Test all-rounder

Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, Australia National Cricket Team skipper Pat Cummins jumped 15 rating points after he picked 6 wickets in the Boxing Day Test. He is now the No.3 ranked bowler in Test cricket and also raised to third place in the Test All-Rounder Rankings.

Marco Jansen climbed six places to sit at five in the bowling Rankings. He picked wickets in the Test against Pakistan, and it was the first time in his career that he went past 800 rating points.

In terms of the ICC Test rankings for batters, Aiden Markram after his 89 in the first Test against Pakistan climbed back into the world’s top 20 batters. While India National Cricket Team batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 84 runs in two innings each, also made gains.

Yashasvi Jaiswal achieves career-best ranking of 4th

Yashasvi Jaiswal jumped one stop and achieved the career-best ranking of 4th. Steve Smith, who slammed ton, rose three places up to seventh, Saud Shakeel (three places up to a career-best sixth place), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (20 places up to 53) also make gains in the Test batting rankings.

Afghanistan batters Rahmat Shah (up 21 places to 52) and Hashmatullah Shahidi (up 25 places to equal 57), who surpassed the highest-ever Test scores for Afghanistan with their double hundreds, also made gains after their terrific effort with the bat in the series against Zimbabwe.
