Jay Shah, Mohsin Naqvi to meet in Dubai on October 20 to discuss Champions Trophy 2025

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah is reportedly set to meet Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The upcoming meeting between Jay Shah and Mohsin Naqvi grabbed attention as the most-awaited Champions Trophy 2025 is just around the corner.
Pakistan is set to host the Champions Trophy in February-March next year. However, there has been a lot of speculation about whether the India national cricket team will go to Pakistan for the upcoming ICC tournament. On the other hand, PCB aims to host the entire tournament in Pakistan.
India has not yet confirmed if it will travel to Pakistan. Pakistan has left the decision to the ICC to persuade the BCCI. The ICC is preparing for contingencies, with reports indicating that a portion of the budget has been set aside in case India’s matches need to be moved outside Pakistan.
Jay Shah Set To Meet Mohsin Naqvi In Dubai On October 20
Jay Shah and Mohsin Naqvi, are scheduled to meet in October during the final match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Dubai. According to Geo News, the PCB is currently awaiting final approval of the ICC Champions Trophy schedule to finalize its logistical arrangements for the tournament.
In a recent meeting with ICC officials, the Pakistan Cricket Board requested the signing of the schedule as soon as possible to facilitate smooth preparations for the Champions Trophy. The PCB has already made provisional bookings based on the proposed schedule and expects to finalize them soon.
The ICC is expected to announce the Champions Trophy schedule by the end of October. A key topic of discussion in the upcoming meeting between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah will be India's participation in the tournament, which is scheduled to be hosted in Pakistan.
India has not toured Pakistan since 2008 due to ongoing political tensions. Team India last toured Pakistan for the Asia Cup in 2008. The two nations have not played a bilateral cricket series since 2013, but they continue to face each other in ICC and ACC events at neutral venues or in India.
ICC Delegation To Give Feedback To Pakistan Cricket Board
Earlier, the ICC delegation assessed the venues including Karachi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Lahore selected for the upcoming tournament. They expressed satisfaction with the security measures and protocols set up for the event, which indicates that the preparations are on track for next year.
The ICC delegation for the Champions Trophy included several key officials, such as Sarah Edgar, Senior Manager of Events; Aun Muhammad Zaidi, Event Manager, and Champions Trophy Event Lead; Wasim Khan, General Manager of Cricket; David Masker, Security Manager; and Mansoor Manj, Broadcast Consultant.
England last hosted the Champions Trophy in 2017, where Pakistan triumphed over India in the final. The upcoming event is the first time the Pakistan Cricket Board will host an ICC tournament since they co-hosted the ODI World Cup in 1996.
