Former India opener Aakash Chopra believes that Moeen Ali will be India's biggest threat and Axar Patel will be England's in the semi-final of the T20 WC.

India and England will be featuring in a replay of the 2022 T20 WC semi-final in Adelaide wherein the Europeans came out on top with a 10-wicket win. The English team, which entered its 3rd World T20 final in 2022 defeated Babar Azam's Pakistan in the last match of the tournament and became the joint-most successful in the competition.

England will be bidding for a 3rd T20 WC title and try to become the most successful. But to do so, the Three Lions will have to beat a resurgent Indian side under Rohit Sharma's captaincy. The Men in Blue are wounded by the losses they have suffered in ICC events since 2013. The pain of losses seems to have doubled since the 2022 WC semi-final itself.

Rohit Sharma and co. first lost to England in the T20 WC SF, then to Australia in the World Test Championship and Cricket World Cup final in 2023. The 2024 T20 WC SF allows them to get their revenge on the English team and finish their decade-long wait for an ICC silverware which they lost in 2013.

Ahead of the all-important match later tonight at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, Aakash Chopra pointed out the threats for both India and England.

Moeen Ali to give problems to India feels Aakash Chopra

While speaking in his latest YouTube video, Aakash Chopra named Moeen Ali as the bowler who can give problems to the Indian team. In terms of batting, Chopra named top-order batter Harry Brook as a key threat to India's bowling attack.

Aakash Chopra then reasoned as to why Mooen Ali's finger spin would be a problem. Chopra claimed since India has several left-handers in the team, Moeen's right-arm off-spin will give headaches to the batters. In terms of batting, Chopra stated that the All-rounder is a very good player of spin bowling, something the Indian team contains heavily.

That's why Aakash Chopra believes Mooen Ali could be such a huge threat.

"Harry Brook in batting, and I feel Moeen Ali is a player who can trouble us. Did we have these many left-handers before this? Since there are so many left-handers, Moeen Ali might have a role, and if we talk about playing spin, Moeen Ali plays spin better. So Moeen Ali could be that dangerous guy. He is this team's vice-captain." - Chopra said in his latest YT video.

Chopra names Axar Patel as the one to help India threaten England

Aakash Chopra then spoke about the threat that Axar Patel can cause with his angling off-spin. Chopra, from his observation, said that England batters have evidently struggled against quality left-arm slow bowlers and that's why the focus will be on Axar as well as Ravindra Jadeja.

"Who could be the threats from the opposing team? Firstly the two openers, whose numbers are not that good against left-arm spin. Then Axar Patel is an important player. You can concentrate more on him. You can focus on Ravindra Jadeja because they are having difficulties against left-arm spin." - Aakash Chopra concluded.
