India National Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Siraj has been displaced from the No.1 spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowler Rankings and the South Africa National Cricket Team spinner Keshav Maharaj now occupies the top spot.
In the last few weeks, the ICC Men’s ODI Bowler Rankings have seen three different bowlers occupy the No.1 spot. At the start of November, Pakistan National Cricket Team left-arm seamer Shaheen Afridi was at the top spot, before being dethroned by the India National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj on November 8.
Less than a week later, the Proteas spinner Keshav Maharaj has jumped to the No.1 spot pushing Siraj at No.2. However, there isn’t much difference in the ratings as the Proteas spinner is at 726 points and Siraj has 723 points.
Maharaj was able to become the World No.1 ODI bowler following his impressive performance last week. Since the last update on Wednesday, he bagged 7 wickets in three games.
Siraj will be looking forward to reclaiming his spot when India take on New Zealand in the World Cup semi-final while Maharaj will be looking to solidify his position by performing well in the semi-final game against Australia. Also, India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav are in the fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Mohammed Siraj Dethroned By Shubman Gill Remains No.1
Siraj’s teammate Shubman Gill is still at the No.1 position in the ICC Men’s ODI Batter Rankings after taking over the spot from Babar Azam last week. Also, his teammates Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma occupy the 4th and 5th spots respectively.
In the batting rankings, Australia National Cricket Team all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has made a massive jump following his unbelievable innings against Afghanistan National Cricket Team. Notably, Glenn Maxwell smashed a double ton in a chasing cause after his team was left tottering at 91/7.
He wasn’t fully fit as he was battling cramps and spasms, but he somehow managed to pull off a heist of the century and steer his team to a sensational victory. The innings played by Glenn Maxwell has helped him to climb a whopping 17 spots in the batting charts and one spot on the all-rounders’ rankings. Maxwell’s teammate Mitchell Marsh has also made significant improvement in the rankings after his 177* against Bangladesh as he jumped 11 places to No.38.
Also, India National Cricket Team batsmen Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have climbed in the rankings following their tons in the match against the Netherlands. Iyer jumped five spots to equal No.13 along with Fakhar Zaman while KL Rahul climbed to 17th from 24th.
