Kieron Pollard Becomes First West Indies Cricketer To Play 100 T20I Matches

Captain Kieron Pollard has become the first West Indies National Cricket Team cricketer in history to play 100 games in T20 International cricket.

Kieron Pollard achieved this tremendous landmark in the second match of the three-match T20I series against Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Friday, February 18.

Kieron Pollard is regarded as one of the greatest players in the shorter format of the game. In his enormously successful T20 International career Kieron Pollard has batted in 81 innings and has scored 1561 runs with his highest score being 75* and at an average of 25.59 and a strike rate of 135.62. The 34-year-old has smashed 6 half-centuries in his T20I career.

Also, the fast-bowling all-rounder Pollard has bowled over 140 overs in his T20I career and has picked 42 wickets at an average of 27.95, an economy of 8.28, and at a strike rate of 20.2 with his best bowling figures being 4/25.

BCCI Congratulates Kieron Pollard For His 100th T20I Game

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video of Pollard receiving his 100th T20I cap and jersey on Twitter and congratulated him for accomplishing the remarkable feat.

Meanwhile, in his T20 International career, Kieron Pollard has been part of 38 victories and 51 defeats with 2 games ending in a tie and 8 games having no result.

Other than Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo, who has played 91 T20 Internationals, no West Indies player has been part of 90+ T20 International games. Legendary T20 batsman Chris Gayle is ranked third on the list of West Indies players with most T20I games as he has been part of 79 T20 Internationals in his remarkable career.
