Kolkata Knight Riders are off to a dream start in the ongoing Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2024 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

After SRH opted to bat first, many would have expected a tough start for the Kolkata-based outfit because of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma's form in the ongoing IPL. Before the game, Head had scored 533 runs with the help of a century and four fifties while scoring at a strike rate of almost 200. On the other hand, Sharma had scored more than 460 runs at a strike-rate of over 209.

KKR, however, made a stunning start with the ball as they managed to get rid of the in-form SRH openers inside the first two overs. Mitchell Starc gave KKR the perfect start by castling Head for a duck in the very first over of the game.

And in the next over, Vaibhav Arora sent back Sharma for 3 to put KKR in the driver's seat. The credit for the dismissal should go to Andre Russell as well who took a fine catch to send back the SRH opener. Sharma was a bit early into his drive through the off-side and ended up miscuing the shot towards cover where Andre Russell timed his jump to perfection to take a brilliant catch.

Talking about the game, SRH were on 45 for 4 at the end of the powerplay. After Head and Sharma's departure, KKR got rid of Nitish Reddy and Shahbaz Ahmed cheaply as well to take command of the proceedings. Rahul Tripathi and Heinrich Klaasen were batting in the middle for the Hyderabad-based outfit.

SRH will be hoping that Tripathi and Klaasen steady the ship and guide them to a good score. The winner of the ongoing game will qualify for the final while the loser will get another chance.
