Former India National Cricket Team captain Kris Srikkanth has lavished high praise on the 23-year-old pacer Harshit Rana after his heroics in the Sydney ODI against the Australia National Cricket Team.

Kris Srikkanth, who was among the experts who had brutally crictised Harshit Rana's selection, said that he deserves all the praise in the world for the way he bowled in the third ODI against the Aussies at Sydney Cricket Ground.

India bowled out Australia for 236 in Sydney, thanks to Harshit Rana

Australia once again won the toss in the series and elected to bat first in the match. Explosive openers Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head took Australia off to a good start and added 61 runs together before Mohammed Siraj sent back the left-handed batter.

After that, India kept picking up the wickets at regular intervals and didn't allow the Aussies to build a big partnership that could have steered them to a massive score.

Axar Patel bagged the second wicket by dismissing Mitchell Marsh for 41, while Washington Sundar bagged the third wicket by sending back Matthew Short for 30.

The star wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey was the next to fall for 24 after playing a scratchy knock, and Matt Renshaw, who scored a good 56 runs, was unable to convert his start into a big score, which resulted in the Aussies being reduced to 195/5.

From thereon, India continued their dominance and quickly bundled out the Aussies for 236 runs in 46.4 overs. Harshit Rana was the top performer for India as he bagged a 4-wicket haul, while Washington Sundar bagged two wickets. Rest of the bowlers - Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel - got one wicket each.

So today Harshit Rana deserves all the praise. I am very happy for you - Kris Srikkanth

Kris Srikkanth got personal while attacking Harshit Rana for his flop shows earlier and accused that he was only selected in the India squads because he was a yes-man to Gautam Gambhir.

However, Kris Srikkanth was made to eat his own words when Harshit Rana dominated against the Aussies, and he lauded the youngster for his brilliant spell.

"So today Harshit Rana deserves all the praise. I am very happy for you. Yes, I criticised you a lot but at the end of the day, you’ve done very well. He has got his confidence back from the last match after scoring with the bat and from his first spell with the ball," he said on his official YouTube channel

"The more he performs this way, his confidence will continue growing. Today he looked like a very confident bowler.

Taking four wickets in an ODI is a big achievement - Kris Srikkanth

Kris Srikkanth added that Rana bowled superbly, with the dismissal of Mitchell Owen being his favorite. He explained:

“Harshit Rana bowled superbly. Taking four wickets in an ODI is a big achievement. My favourite was the wicket of Owen. It was a superb delivery and Rohit took a great catch.

"He bowled a terrific line and length. Last match he got clobbered at the death but this game, he bowled very well even at the death. He didn’t bowl short today and didn’t try too many slower ones."
