Former India captain Kris Srikkanth lauded Rishabh Pant’s century as a terrific knock and mentioned that he hadn’t seen such a dominating inning by a wicketkeeper since Australia’s Adam Gilchrist. Rishabh Pant made 101 as India took 89 runs lead at the end of day two.
India had lost early wickets on day two after resuming on 24/1. Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli fell in quick succession, while Ajinkya Rahane followed after a good-looking 27 and then Ravichandran Ashwin followed as well. At 146/6, India looked like they would concede a lead to England in the first innings.
Before him, only Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Wasim Akram, and Anil Kumble have reached the mark.
Never Seen Such Destruction Since Adam Gilchrist: Kris Srikkanth Lauds Rishabh Pant
Former India batsman Kris Srikkanth was all praises for Rishabh Pant’s knock which contained 13 fours and 2 sixes to boot for. One of those sixes also brought Pant his third Test century, as he launched Joe Root over the square leg boundary. This was his second ton against England and first on home soil.

“What a terrific century by @RishabhPant17 when Team India needed it the most! Never seen such destruction by a keeper since Gilly #ENGvIND #pant #TeamIndia,” Srikkanth said on Twitter.

This Is The Bold India, This Is India That Believes In Itself: Sunil Gavaskar On Rishabh Pant Hitting A Six To Reach His Century
Former India opener Sunil Gavaskar pointed out how Rishabh Pant reached his century, as he launched Joe Root into the stratosphere while on 94. England captain had to employ himself after Dom Bess was not impactful in his spell, bowling loose deliveries every over.

“It has come at such a crucial time for India. You asked me a question what you think he is going to do and I said that he will get to his hundred with a six, and that’s exactly what he has done. This is the bold India, this is India that believes in itself.
“This is the India that we all love, we all love. Look at that, look at the way he has given joy to those at the ground, to the millions watching this on television. Oh, this is amazing. This is so wonderful,” said Sunil Gavaskar while doing commentary on Star Sports.
