Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will target another brilliant season in IPL 2024. The franchise reached the playoffs during the last two seasons. However, they lost the Eliminator match in both seasons and failed to reach the final.

In IPL 2024, LSG will aim to take one step closer and reach the final this time so that they can steal the trophy. KL Rahul is the skipper of Lucknow Super Giants. However, due to an injury, he missed half-of-the tournament last season.

LSG finished in the third spot in the points table after the league stage. Out of 14 matches, LSG won 8 games and lost 5. Their one match was washed out due to rain and ended with no result. LSG earned 17 points, equalling second-ranked Chennai Super Kings. However, LSG lost to Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator match and were eliminated from the final race.

Marcus Stoinis was a standout performer for Lucknow Super Giants last season. He mustered 408 runs in 15 games averaging 31+. He also shattered 3 fifties to end as the leading run-getter for the side. Next on the list was Kyle Mayers, who added 379 runs in 13 games with his bat. Nicholas Pooran mustered 358 runs in 15 matches.

Among bowlers, Ravi Bishnoi was the highest wicket-taker for the side with 16 scalps. He also registered a wonderful economy of just 7+. Yash Thakur was another impressive bowler with 13 wickets. Naveen-ul-Haq hunted 11 wickets for the team. Mark Wood could only feature in 4 games due to injury but added 11 wickets to his tally.

Lucknow Super Giants evicted 8 players from their squad ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Daniel Sams, Jaydev Unadkat, and Karun Nair were some of the players that the franchise released from the squad. LSG had the least funds available in the auction.

During the IPL 2024 auction, LSG grabbed 6 players in their squad. Shivam Mavi was their costliest pick at Rs. 6.40 crore. LSG also inducted M Siddharth for Rs. 2.40 crore and David Willey for Rs. 2 crore.

Ashton Turner, Arshin Kulkarni, and Mohd. Arshad Khan was the other three players that LSG picked during the auction. LSG also made a trade with Rajasthan Royals. They grabbed left-handed batter Devdutt Padikkal in their squad for the next season.

Lucknow Super Giants have been impressive in both seasons so far. They reached the playoffs in their first season in 2022. They also reached the playoffs in the 2023 season. However, in both seasons, LSG could not reach the final as they lost the Eliminator clash.

KL Rahul missed a lot of games last season due to an injury. He was ruled out of the tournament midway. Despite losing its skipper, LSG went on to reach playoffs. With KL Rahul’s comeback, LSG will be much stronger in IPL 2024.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Full Schedule For IPL 2024

The IPL 2024 schedule is yet to be released by BCCI. The Indian Cricket Board will release the schedule in February or March 2024. The tournament might commence a week early this year due to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June.
