Indian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has attributed his understanding of the tempo of the T20I game to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni. Ruturaj emphasized that being part of CSK has been a crucial learning experience, particularly due to the influence of Dhoni.

I Learned Being In CSK – Ruturaj Gaikwad

Speaking to JioCinema after India’s win in the fourth T20I, Ruturaj Gaikwad highlighted MS Dhoni’s influence in assessing team requirements at specific stages of the game, irrespective of the batter’s individual score or position in the lineup.

“No, definitely. I would say I learned being in CSK because, you know, Mahi bhai is always keen on reading situations, you know, understanding the game, how the game will progress. And he is more or less sends a message where you have to look for a team score,” Gaikwad told Jio Cinema.

“You know what the team requires at that certain stage, irrespective of where you are batting, Either you are batting on 15 or not out or you just started, what the team requires just in particular that over. So I think that has stayed with me. And I’m trying to continue that,” he added.

In the third T20I, the 26-year-old scored 123 runs off 57 balls, marking the second-highest T20I score for India. He scored 21 runs off 21 balls before accelerating with an impressive 102 runs off the next 36 deliveries. However, his brilliant innings came in a losing cause.
