Matthew Hayden Throws His Weight Behind Australian Coach Justin Langer Post Criticism

Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden had come in support of the head coach Justin Langer and condemned anything that has been said against the favour of Langer. Justin Langer took over the side as the head coach when the team was in a disarray after the ball-tampering scandal and slowly rebuilt the side.
Langer and Hayden have been some of the most famous opening partners in Test cricket and they had great success at the top of the order for the Australian side. Langer has been facing severe blows from most ends after Australia’s poor performances in recent times against West Indies and Bangladesh.
Matthew Hayden Feels The Rumours Going Around Is Disrespectful To Langer
Matthew Hayden on SEN’S Radio stated that the people’s opinion on Langer’s future as Australia head coach is now way respectful. He wanted the reporters to know Langer deserves a lot of respect for the passion and love he has shown for the country. He specifically was disappointed with Australia’s chief reporter Pete Lalor’s speculations on Langer’s future.
“A lot of the content coming out about this is downright disrespectful to a bloke that’s played over 100 Test matches. Even this facetious discussion amongst senior players last night that obviously Pete Lalor (The Australian’s chief cricket reporter) was on to about deciding Justin Langer’s future,” Matthew Hayden told to SEN’S Radio.
Hayden Highlights The Positives From Justin Langer
Matthew Hayden reminded the people that Australia is still in a very good position in the ICC rankings and there is no need for so many allegations on Langer at the moment. He added that Langer’s passion for the country and the fact that he is a legend of the game should rule out the criticism.
“Umm, hello! What about meeting about the fact you’re No. 3 in Test cricket and No. 3 in ODI rankings, and No. 6 in T20 rankings? Waste more energy and time thinking about that than discussing a bloke who’s a legend of the game and so passionate about Australian cricket and culture,” he added.
Justin Langer will have to prove his worth in the upcoming T20 Worldcup and the Ashes for him to retain his head coach position.
