Mohammed Shami Consults Sports Orthopaedic For Ankle Problem - Reports

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has consulted a sports orthopaedic doctor in Mumbai to treat the troubles he has been facing with his ankle as per the reports in PTI. The fast bowler faced discomfort in his ankle after the conclusion of the ICC World Cup 2023.
Fans became aware of Mohammed Shami’s ankle injury when BCCI announced the squad for the series against South Africa. His name didn’t feature in the white-ball squads but was in the Test squad. A star was in front of his name, which revealed that the pacer is currently undergoing medical treatment and his availability is subject to fitness.
Mohammed Shami requires medical attention for his ankle condition, which isn’t an injury issue. The fast bowler is currently in Mumbai for treatment and after that will be heading to NCA for rehabilitation. Speaking to PTI, a BCCI Source stated:
“It is not exactly an on-field injury. It is an ankle condition that has developed. Shami came to Mumbai to consult the doctors. He will also go to NCA for rehab and recuperation work. The national selectors wouldn’t have selected him had there not been a chance of him getting fit in time for the Boxing Day Test.”
The seriousness of the Mohammed Shami’s injury is yet to be known but it is expected that fast bowler will be fit for the series against South Africa. He will play a crucial role for the team and if India has to fancy their chances of winning their first series in South Africa, he will be crucial for the team.
Mohammed Shami was last seen in action during the ICC World Cup 2023. He ended the tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 24 wickets to his name. The fast bowler was one of the main reasons behind India reaching the final. But unfortunately, he didn’t have a fairytale ending as India lost the final.
