Richa Ghosh, the 18-year old Indian women’s wicketkeeper-batsman has made an interesting revelation after scoring the quickest fifty-ever by an Indian women cricketer. She scored 50 off just 26 balls in the fourth ODI against New Zealand.

However, her knock was not enough to save India from losing the game, India ultimately lost the series 4-1 with Richa being the only positive for India.

In a conversation with BCCI.TV after the fourth game, she revealed that MS Dhoni is her idol and she follows his power-hitting style as well. Further, she spoke about her admiration for Mithali Raj, the Indian skipper.

“When I began watching matches of Team India, I started following MS Dhoni as I was impressed with his power-hitting abilities with the bat coupled with effective wicket-keeping behind the stumps. He is my idol.” Richa told Mithali.

On being asked about her feelings after scoring the quickest fifty by Mithali, Richa Ghosh said that she felt happy and recalled the moment when she narrowly missed her fifty against Australia.

“I was really happy, and my parents were also elated by it as they called up to congratulate me after the knock.”

Richa walked out to bat with India at 19-4 and in a spot of bother. She then added a 77-run stand with Mithali Raj for the fifth wicket. Once Richa was dismissed, India lost track of the run-chase and ended up losing the game by 63 runs.

Indian women’s team won the last and final ODI by six wickets and managed to get a consolation win in the series. Mithali spoke about the Indian bowling needing to add muscle after four consecutive defeats in the series.

“We have definitely been trying a few compositions with our spin and seam attack. But to be honest the bowling is a bit of concern before the World Cup.

“We want all our main bowlers to get their rhythm. We are adapting to the conditions but there are spells where the bowlers have bowled well but we are not consistent and it is something that we are looking to improve” said Mithali after the loss.
