Former Australian leg-spinner Brad Hogg believes that the legendary MS Dhoni is the ‘Maharaja’ of the Chennai Super Kings [CSK] and that he will not be leaving the franchise in the coming years.
The BCCI, on Monday, revealed the rules of retention of players ahead of the upcoming mega-auction which will also see two new franchises come into the fold.
According to the retention rules laid out by the BCCI, each franchise will be able to retain a maximum of four players in their squad.
The franchise can either opt for two Indian and two overseas players or they can retain three Indians and one foreign recruit.
Earlier, the franchises had an option of retaining three players directly and a couple more via the ‘Right to Match’ Card.
However, the BCCI has now terminated the ‘RTM’ option and besides that, it has added to increase the salary purse of every franchise from Rs 85 Crore to 90 Crore.
With the players’ retention rules released, fans have already started discussing which players their respective favorite franchise should retain ahead of the mega-auction.
One of the fans asked Brad Hogg on Twitter if any team will buy MS Dhoni if the Chennai Super Kings don’t retain him?
Hogg replied by stating that MS Dhoni will never leave CSK and he may transition into a coaching rule after he decides to hang up his boots as a player.
”MS Dhoni is not leaving @ChennaiIPL He is the Maharaja of the franchise. He will transition into a coaching role. #IPL,” Hogg said in a tweet.
