MS Dhoni might have only a few more years in IPL, however, fans can still enjoy watching him play cricket on the field with the popularity of Legends League Cricket. The 2nd season of the tournament is underway currently.

Legends League Cricket is a tournament for retired players. Like a franchise league, it is competitive with different franchises locking horns to win the title. LLC currently has six teams.

MS Dhoni Should Continue To Play Until He’s 50+: Legends League Cricket CEO

During a conversation with TOI.com, Legends League Cricket co-founder and CEO Raman Raheja revealed the idea behind the tournament. He said that fans want players like MS Dhoni to play for 50-plus years. So the idea of the tournament was to extend players’ careers.

“We have more than 100 crore cricket fans in our country and at least half of that outside of India as well. So when you have such a large population, and we grew up looking at our heroes, we never want them to retire. We say Dhoni should continue to play till he’s 50+ or maybe more than that”, he said.

“So it’s always hard when somebody like that retires, fans feel bad. So the idea was that they could extend their playing career and given that today’s cricket has become very competitive with youngsters and physical fitness coming up, the average age of a cricketer is actually coming down”, he further added.

Recently, the LLC CEO also met MS Dhoni in Ranchi and had a meeting with them. In the future, there are possibilities that Dhoni might play in the tournament.

Former players like Gautam Gambhir, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, and Kevin Pietersen among others are part of the current season. There are 6 teams in LLC 2023 and former players from 16 nations are part of the tournament.
