MS Dhoni vs Rohit Sharma! Kuldeep Yadav settles debate on India's best captain

Kuldeep Yadav was a part of India's T20 World Cup 2024 title-winning squad and made a big impact in the tournament. He picked up 10 wickets in the tournament and played only in the West Indies leg of the tournament.

His performances helped him play every match since the Super 8s and keep someone like Yuzvendra Chahal on the bench. In the final against South Africa, he remained wicketless but picked up wickets in every match leading into the final.

Kuldeep was roped into the playing XI in the first Super 8 match against Afghanistan where he picked up two wickets. He picked up three against Bangladesh, two against Australia, and three in the semi-final against England.

In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Kuldeep Yadav opened up on playing under different captains. He made his international debut under MS Dhoni and has seen the transition from close quarters with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's captaincy.

Speaking on the captaincy of Dhoni and Rohit, Kuldeep said "All of them had different eras, all of them had the chance to lead the team in their own way and they have been really successful at that," Kuldeep said.

On MS Dhoni's captaincy, he said "Getting a chance to lead India, MS Dhoni has won India three ICC titles."

Moving forward, Kuldeep Yadav kept his views on Rohit Sharma's captaincy as well "Rohit bhai has also lead the team beautifully. When got his chance he won a title for India. He has even won titles in the IPL as well. He led India to the WTC 2023 final, the ODI World Cup 2023 final and finally he won the T20 World Cup."

To wrap up the question he said "Everyone has led the team beautifully. There can be no comparisons. Because the one who gets an opportunity to lead his side plays for the country and gives his focus and attention on winning matches for the team."

Kuldeep Yadav has worked very hard on his game for the last four or five years, He was a regular in the side between 2017-2019. He then lost his place in the side from 2020-2022. By his own admission, he worked on his run-up variation and speed to make a comeback into the side.

He has flourished as a bowler under Rohit Sharma and has been the go-to-bowler in his captaincy. Rohit's use of Kuldep throughout the IPL is a great sign of the trust he has in his abilities. He did not keep him in the XI for the games in New York. However, as soon as India began playing in the Caribbean, Rohit used him as his trump card and he repaid the faith with 10 wickets in the tournament.
