Mumbai Indians (MI) has finally arrived with their list of retained players for IPL Auction 2025. There were a lot of doubts over who the franchise would retain after the previous season where they were the worst performers.

BCCI had set a deadline of October 31 for all 10 teams to finalize their list of retained players for IPL Auction 2025. Each franchise can retain a maximum of 6 players in their squad ahead of IPL Auction 2025.

They can also retain some players with the Right To Match facility during the action. Out of these 6 players, only a maximum of five can be capped players while a maximum of two can be uncapped players.

Mumbai Indians were the worst performers last season

While many fans expected Mumbai Indians to be the dominating side last season with the return of Hardik Pandya, the reverse thing happened and they were the worst team. As Pandya also replaced Rohit Sharma as skipper, many fans did not support the team inside and outside the stadium.

The three-time champions won just 4 games out of 14 in the league despite having a powerful set of members like Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav. With 8 points, they were far from the playoffs.

Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah were best performers with bat and ball

Notably, Rohit Sharma showed a wonderful performance with the bat and scored the most 417 runs for the side. This included 1 ton and 1 fifty. The next on the list was Tilak Varma with 416 runs and Suryakumar Yadav with 345 runs.

In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah gave a phenomenal show by capturing 20 wickets at a 16.80 average and 6.48 economy. The next on the list were Piyush Chawla (13) and Gerald Coetzee (13).

Surprisingly, there were also reports of Rohit Sharma parting ways with the franchise for IPL 2025. Also, many senior members were not happy under skipper Hardik Pandya. Hence, Mumbai Indians will have to build a team from scratch ahead of IPL 2025.

Also, since the franchise was the worst performer last season, it proves that they need to make significant changes to the squad with IPL Auction 2025. Notably, MI has not won the title since 2020 and reached playoffs only once in the last four seasons.
