Not Drake! Rinku Singh made 'God's Plan' famous, shockingly claims Varun Dhawan

Rinku Singh's famous one-liner "God's Plan" was used as a caption by Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan in one of his Instagram posts. In a recent conversation, the Bollywood actor revealed why he did so.

Rinku Singh who recently played in the T20I series against Sri Lanka bowled a brilliant 19th over by giving away three runs and playing his part in the Indian bowling attack defending 137. He took two wickets in the over that of Kusal Perera and Ramesh Mendis.

India were restricted to 137/9 in their 20 overs in the third T20I. Shubman Gill top-scored with 39 and lower-order contributions from Washington Sundar (25) and Riyan Parag (26) took them to that score.

Sri Lanka chasing 138 to win were poised at 110/2 in the 16th over. For the third match in a row, Sri Lanka's middle-order collapsed and they ultimately ended up tying the match. India managed to tie the game with SL needing nine from 12 balls.

Rinku bowled a brilliant 19th over as he gave just three runs and took two wickets. Suryakumar Yadav brought himself on to bowl the final over and managed to take the game to a tie with Sri Lanka unable to score six runs off the final over. SKY also took two wickets in his final over.

India then won the game on the Super Over. For Sri Lanka, it was heartbreak for the second time in a row with their batters not able to win matches for the team from a potentially winning position.

This was the first time India won/tied a T20I match after losing 5 wickets for less than 50 runs. This was also the third time India whitewashed Sri Lanka in a T20I series after 2017 and 2022. Interestingly, this was the fifth game India won after the match ended in a tie. They won all their tied matches defending the total. On the other hand, this was Sri Lanks's third loss in five Super Overs.

Meanwhile. Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, during a recent event, was asked by the presenter about the "God's Plan" caption in one of his Instagram posts. Varun said that the caption was inspired by Rinku Singh as he also lauded his efforts with the ball in the final T20I against Sri Lanka.

"God's plan. It is a song by Drake but it is famous because of Rinku Singh. Even I believe. Rinku bowled a fabulous 19th over," said Varun Dhawan.

After the match, Rinku Singh spoke about his effort with the ball. This was Rinku's first two wickets in T20Is. He also picked up a wicket in his maiden ODI for India. The southpaw said that he was not aware that he would be needed with the ball but he admitted that SKY asked him to be ready to bowl if needed.

India will now play a three-match ODI series against Sri Lank in Colombo with matches on August 2, 4 and 7.
