Not Jasprit Bumrah Or Mohammed Shami!! Mohammad Kaif Backs Another Bowler As Rohit Sharma's Go-To Man In Asia Cup And World Cup

Former India batsman Mohammad Kaif has revealed his pick for India captain Rohit Sharma’s go-to man in the upcoming Asia Cup and the World Cup. The Men in Blue are gearing up for a busy period that will see them fighting it out for the continental championship and the ODI world title.

The Rohit Sharma-led side will be desperate to reclaim both trophies this year. India have not won the World Cup since 2011 while they last won the Asia Cup in 2018. India are one of the strong favorites for both competitions. They will be playing in the Asia Cup first before fighting it out in the World Cup at home in October-November.

The Asia Cup is scheduled to start from August 30 and the final will be played on September 17. Team India are scheduled to open their Asia Cup campaign against bitter rivals Pakistan on September 2 in Pallekele. On the other hand, the World Cup is scheduled to be played from October 5 to November 19. India will open their campaign in the World Cup on October 8 against Australia in Chennai.

Mohammad Kaif reveals his pick for go-to man:

Ahead of the Asia Cup and the World Cup, Mohammad Kaif has said that left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav will be captain Rohit Sharma’s, go-to man. The former batsman also said that he is excited to see the spinner in action in both competitions. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mohammad Kaif wrote:

“@imkuldeep18 will be Rohit’s go-to man. One of the things I’m excited about at this Asia Cup and World Cup is to watch in form Kuldeep Yadav in the middle overs. A wicket-taker with flight and turn against batsmen looking for runs is always a great contest.”

Kuldeep Yadav is the only wrist spinner in India’s squad for the Asia Cup and is also set to lead the spin attack in the World Cup. The chinaman spinner has done well with the ball in recent times and will be a key member of the Indian team in the upcoming competitions. In the ongoing year, he has picked up 22 wickets in 11 games while maintaining an economy rate of less than 5.
